  • Imago Dei (Genesis 1:27) – All people are created in the image of God, affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, regardless of race, gender, or background.
  • Love and Justice (Micah 6:8) – God calls us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly, which aligns with the pursuit of equity and inclusion.
  • Unity in Christ (Galatians 3:28) – In Christ, there is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female; all are one, emphasizing inclusion and equality in the Kingdom of God.
  • The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) – Jesus commands His followers to make disciples of all nations, emphasizing the inclusivity of the Gospel message.

2. Applying DEI in a Gospel-Centered Way

A. Equity: Ensuring Justice and Fairness

  • Biblical Principle: God calls for justice and fairness (Isaiah 1:17, Proverbs 31:8-9).
  • Application:
    • Address social and systemic injustices within faith communities.
    • Provide opportunities for marginalized voices in ministry and leadership.
    • Advocate for policies that uplift the poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged.

B. Inclusion: Welcoming All as Christ Did

  • Biblical Principle: Jesus consistently welcomed those marginalized by society (Luke 14:13-14, Mark 2:16-17).
  • Application:
    • Create welcoming spaces for people of all backgrounds in churches and Christian organizations.
    • Develop inclusive outreach programs for communities often overlooked.
    • Promote accessibility for individuals with disabilities in faith-based settings.

C. Diversity: Celebrating the Beauty of God’s Creation

  • Biblical Principle: Heaven is described as a diverse, multiethnic worship gathering (Revelation 7:9).
  • Application:
    • Encourage multicultural worship and representation in Christian media.
    • Build bridges across racial and cultural divides within the Church.
    • Partner with diverse communities to promote reconciliation and healing.
